    Who Can Join The Sons? All male descendants, adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion or veterans who died in service during World War I or since December 7, 1941 or who died after their honorable discharge. 

    Why Join The Sons? Many members join out of respect for their parents’ and grandparents’ military service to our country, or to become involved in the programs of The American Legion. Also, members can learn valuable leadership and organizational skills, and form lifelong friendships with people who share a common bond. 

    Programs The Sons are the greatest fundraising arm of the American Legion family. We annually raise the most money for veteran’s and children’s charities. With over 27 programs for family, youth, community, and national affairs we cover the ground from baseball diamonds to our nation’s borders. 

    Member Benefits Members of the Sons are entitled to many benefits that are provided for Legionnaires, including discounts on insurance, auto rental, travel and lodging; discounts at Office Depot/Office Max; and eligibility for The Legion Insurance Trust and The National Emergency Fund
